Accolades

We are pleased to announce that six ITVS-funded programs have been selected for the 2002 Sundance Film Festival: DAUGHTER FROM DANANG by Gail Dolgin & Vicente Franco; DADDY & PAPA by Johnny Symons; ralph ellison: An American Journey by Avon Kirkland; SEÑORITA EXTRAVIADA (missing young woman) by Lourdes Portillo; TWO TOWNS OF JASPER by Marco Williams & Whitney Dow; and BINTOU (from MAMA AFRICA series) by Fanta Regina Nacro.
ITVS celebrated its 10th anniversary and a decade of change TV with museum retrospectives, film festival screenings and on-air tributes across the country. Highlights included retrospectives at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
Maggie Kotuk and Travis Jefferies, the subject of the Richard Kotuk's TRAVIS, recently met a special guest at his new school, the Frederick Douglass Academy in New York City. Now 13, Travis continues to thrive.
ITVS congratulates Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (CA) on her election as minority whip of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Thompson, whose program BLINK won the News and Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Coverage of a Continuing News Story. Deann Liem Borshay was also nominated for a National Emmy for her direction of FIRST PERSON PLURAL.
