Tributes

Senator Paul Wellstone
1944-2002
We mourn the death of Paul Wellstone, a true friend of public television. Wellstone fought tirelessly for social and economic justice throughout his life and was a dedicated supporter of ITVS. As Rabbi Michael Lerner said, "Paul Wellstone was a mensch among mice." We will miss him.

Filmmaker Eagle Pennell
1953-2002
A pioneer of independent, regional filmmaking, Eagle Pennell's films included The Whole Shootin' Match (1978) and Last Night at the Alamo (1983). At the time of his death Pennell was working on MY DOG BIT ELVIS with research and development funds from ITVS. Pennell's death is a loss to the independent film community, though his influence on contemporary American cinema lives on.
