Accolades
Tracy Tragos’s BE GOOD, SMILE PRETTY received a 2004 News and Documentary Emmy. A LInCS co-presentation with KCPT/Kansas City, be good, smile pretty aired on Independent Lens last fall. Congratulations to Tracy and to all who worked on her film. Filmmaker Johnny Symons received a News and Documentary Emmy nomination for his film, DADDY & PAPA, which aired on Independent Lens in spring 2003.
Four ITVS-funded programs were recipients of Cine Golden Eagle Awards: Lisette Marie Flanary and Evann Siebens’s AMERICAN ALOHA, Patricia Flynn and Mary Jo McConahay’s DISCOVERING DOMINGA, Linda Goode Bryant and Laura Poitras’s FLAG WARS, and Jocelyn Glatzer and Christine Courtney’s THE FLUTE PLAYER. Congrats to Jessica Yu, whose IN THE REALMS OF THE UNREAL was nominated for a 2004 IFP Gotham Award for Best Film, Documentary. Rodney Evans’s BROTHER TO BROTHER, which will air on Independent Lens this spring, has recently received a number of awards, including Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature at the Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Grand Jury Award for Outstanding Narrative Feature at Outfest, a Vanguard Award at NewFest and an Audience Award at Frameline.
And a round of applause for BEYOND THE FIRE: TEEN EXPERIENCES OF WAR. An Electric Shadows project presented by ITVS Interactive, created and produced by Sesh Kannan, and designed by Free Range Graphics, the site has been selected as a Netscape Cool Site of the Day and a USA Today Hot Site. |
